Cool Gift Wrapping On A Shoestring

I wrapped the baby shower gift this afternoon, and just had to post a picture of how cool it turned out with the little booties:

The brown paper is from a couple old grocery bags that must have been in my wrapping box for years.  I’ve been using cloth grocery bags for ages now, so these must have been there for a while.  Glad I finally put them to good use!

The bow is from a present someone gave me – I never buy things like bows and gift bags, I just save the ones I get and reuse them. 

The pink ribbon is from my scrapbook supply corner.

And the booties are a fantastic little thrift store find.

    cute! I love reusing wrapping supplies. I teach birthday parties every Saturday as part of my job (I’m a naturalist), and I always ask the parents to save tissue paper, ribbons, and things like that. We then reuse those in our crafts (preschool/kinder programs) at the nature center.

    Have you ever used old maps and yarn to wrap gifts? We AAA get a lot of maps at AAA. When they are outdated, into the wrapping box they go, along with any yarn scraps.

    I got a large supply of white tissue paper from Costco for $6. It’ll do me good for years. Just need to decorate with ribbons, etc. Which I reuse when possible.

    I HATE! the cost of wrapping presents and the cost of cards. It’s such a gouge. Thank you for your post your present looks AWESOME!

    I don’t EVER buy cards. I make them by hand quite a bit, using various leftover craft supplies and pieces cut from cards I receive. And I haven’t bought wrapping paper/bows/gift bags, etc. in probably five years. I have box where I keep tissue paper and gift bags from presents we get, and I just use various leftovers to wrap gifts. Works great, and it helps to save a few trees :)

    I also use brown paper bags. Then I buy fancy ribbon from fabric or craft stores on clearance and pick things from my yard to decorate with. The plants do get wilted, so it’s no good for shipping and you can’t really do that part very far in advance. Also, it can get a little difficult to find nice plants in winter, but I do have some rosemary which is evergreen and always looks good with red ribbon.

    And with just old garbage bags and weeds, people still feel special when they get presents wrapped by me.

    I love the idea of using weeds! I’ve used pinecones as decorations in all sorts of ways before, but had never thought of tying them on presents… I’ll have to start searching around in nature for gift wrapping ideas!
