Genius! We've been looking at those pricey worm bins in all the gardening and "green" sites but have shied away from trying them simply because we can't justify $150+ on worms!

Thanks so much, looks like I'm going to get some companions in my kitchen in January. Fewer treks out in the snow to the compost heap. (And as it hit -27 with the wind last night... that is a HUGE thrill!)

Compost and ladybugs and worms...oh my!!

Your compost and winter garden setup sounds amazing! And impressive! I would love to see a photo of your crawl-space hydroponic garden if you feel inclined to show it. I can't imagine what that setup would look like, but it must look pretty cool to have fresh organic veggies growing right there in your basement!

Gives the phrase "home-grown" a whole new meaning!

I have a very under-used crawl space that is just begging for some veggies to be planted in there. Your ideas are so very inspiring to me! I want veggies in my basement, too :)

I've been wondering how your indoor and outdoor gardens were doing! You've almost got me persuaded on the hydroponic question, considering how well it's done for you...

Cool! Can you post a photo of your worm bin? The Can-O-Worms setup we've looked at costs $119.
