Sunday again already! I’m still up, studying for my continuing education test that I have to take before I can renew my insurance license. But I needed a break, so I figured I’d see what the other blogger in the FBN were up to this week. Kelly from Almost Frugal has managed to find time to have another blog – Almost Frugal Food. There’s already a ton of stuff on it – I’m inspired just reading it. I love to cook (and eat!) and I’m sure I’ll be checking out this blog quite a bit. Not sure how Kelly manages to do all that she does – three kids, an Etsy store, two blogs… quite impressive!
Shanti at Antishay Ventenne has a fantastic post about buying a motorcycle (and is probably getting some pretty sweet gas mileage these days!). She saved the money first, took her time, researched various bikes, and plunked down cash to buy it. Her detailed description of the process is fitting for any large purchase. If you’ve got your eye on something that you can’t afford right now, head over to Shanti’s blog and get inspired.
Not Made Of Money has a good reminder about finding ways to keep “junk” out of landfills and maybe make some money in the process. I’m on a de-cluttering binge right now, but almost everything is either going to the recycle center or a thrift store. I’ve only filled one trash bag so far with stuff that will actually go out to the curb. It always feels much better to see stuff get a new lease on life with somebody else. And since almost everything I have was used when I got it, the recycling chain just gets longer.
Andy from Tight Fisted Miser has a post about running a marathon without breaking the bank. I agree completely. I used to run in lots of races (mostly of the 10K variety), but these days I’m just running for fun. I do spend quite a bit on my shoes, but as much as I run, I figure I get my money’s worth. I always get my running clothes at thrift stores, but it’s always nearly-new, brand name stuff and I usually pay about $3 per item. Last year, I wanted to run a half marathon, but I didn’t want to spend money on an entry fee. I also hate running in the morning, which is when just about every race takes place. So I made my own half-marathon. My dog (who can outrun me any day, but hangs out with me to keep me company on runs) and I headed out with my gps and ran 13.1 miles. For free. And we did it in the evening, which is much more my style. And at the end of the day, does it really matter where or when you run?
