Festival Of Frugality
The Festival of Frugality is up at Broke Grad Student. I enjoyed the post at Free From Broke about running. I’ve been running since I was about 16 - nearly half my life. I love how simple it is. I do have somewhat expensive shoes that I buy at a store where they use video gait analysis, but everything else comes from thrift stores. My running clothes are all specialty fabrics from Nike, Adidas, etc. but I never pay more than a few dollars a piece. My sports bras come from places like Ross and TJ Maxx. So all in all, running is pretty easy on my budget. One of my favorite things about it is how portable it is. When we travel, my shoes and running clothes take up very little room in my bag, and I can run wherever we are.
Blueprint for Financial Prosperity has a post about frugal hobbies - I love that disc golf is included… it’s one of our favorites.
I love the idea of a birthday table cloth - what a great frugal tip! Kids’ birthday parties seem to be more out of control than ever, and I really like the idea of simple things like this that build good memories. And I like making things out of sheets.
And my eco-conscious self has to agree that high gas prices have a silver lining. And that The Good Human has some very good uses for things that would otherwise get tossed.
Monroe on a Budget has a great post about scrapbooking on a budget. I love to scrapbook, and I’m always looking for ways to do it that don’t involve spending lots of time in the expensive scrapbook store.

I challenge you to find a cheaper sport than running. Every other sport requires special shoes like running, but then you have add ons like, racquets, balls, Protective equiptment. I think running is the cheapest, and most portable.

I’m glad I made smart choices when I had the money for good quality scrapbooking supplies. I haven’t needed to restock many “consumables” during the past couple of years.
