No iPhone In The Frugal Babe Household

I saw an ad today for the new iPhone, coming out next month.  The G3 is billed as being “twice as fast, half the price”  I assume they’re comparing it with the original iphone – already outdated after only a year.  This is why I don’t buy the latest and greatest of pretty much anything.  The Razr that we got for $10 the last time we renewed our cell phone service works just fine.   Next time we renew our contract, who knows – we might just  splash out another $10 for an upgrade to what is now a hot phone, but by then will be the bargain model.

    I saw an article about the new iPhone and wondered what my friend, who stood in line to get the 4G model, is going to think. Two months after he bought his, it was discontinued and the 8G dropped to the 4G price. Now there’s the new one, and I bet you anything he’ll buy it. He’s not rich. In fact, he is deeply in debt.

    Meanwhile I’m using a phone I’ve had for years. I can upgrade and get a Razr for free, but I just haven’t bothered. I’ll do it when this one dies on me. Until then, I just don’t care.

    Actually, what I’ve found is version 1.0 of the latest “hot new product” has too many bugs to make it worth any of the fun. My Dad had to have the first LCD TVs when they came out – these were in boxes shipped back to the mfg far more than they were in my parents’ home. They were at the mfg’s when my dad died.
