Yesterday I bought some cloth diapers from a lady I found on Craigslist. She sold me six diapers and three waterproof diaper covers for $21. And she threw in a box of nursing pads and a changing pad for free. The diapers are shaped with elastic at the legs, but no velco closures. She said I could use pins if I wanted, but she used them with the diaper covers – which do have velcro – and said that the covers held them in place just fine without pins.Â
The diapers are a very simple pattern that my mother and I should be able to easily copy when we make diapers out of the flannel sheets I bought a few months ago. We can make some more in this same size and then just increase the size to make larger diapers. I think I’ll add velcro to the diapers I bought yesterday, just to make things easier (diaper pins at 2 am make me nervous, and I’d like as much protection against diaper blowouts as I can get).
I also picked up the baby sling that I found on Craigslist. Between the foot that’s been stuck in my right ribs for the last two days and all this baby stuff I’m accumulating, it’s starting to feel very real. We’re so excited to meet this baby, and feeling very good about the budget we’ve stuck to throughout the getting-ready-for-baby months.Â
