We had some friends stay at our house last night, so it was a much more exciting Friday night than usual for us. Our friends live a few hours from here, so we don’t see them as often as we’d like. Last time they were here, a few months ago, we ended up going out to dinner at a place that has an attached arcade. By the end of the night, with dinner, drinks, and arcade entertainment, we had spent almost $70, plus whatever they spent. Ouch. We always have a great time with them, but we can’t be spending $70 every time friends come over.Â
So last night we spent $17 to get everything we needed to make a spaghetti dinner with homemade meatballs and real parmesan cheese and garlic bread. We ate and talked and laughed, and then watched a couple funny tv shows. Then the husbands played Mario Carts on our Nintendo 64. This morning I made gourmet pancakes for everyone – another meal that’s much less expensive to make at home.Â
We had just as much fun with our friends as we did last time, but we spent a whole lot less money this time.Â
