I just got back from spending a few days with one of my best friends who just had a baby – hence the lack of posts this week. This is baby number 2 for my friend and her husband, and I knew that they could use some help. I wasn’t able to do much for the baby, since he pretty much just needed a breast every 2 – 3 hours, and wasn’t particularly interested in mine.Â
I took the two-year-old for some long runs and walks in the stroller to give the new parents a few hours each day to just sleep while the baby slept, but other than stroller time, the toddler didn’t want much to do with me either.  She’s going through a pretty clingy phase with mom and dad – probably because of the sudden change in her status as an only child.Â
Mostly, I cooked and cleaned and worked in the garden. It felt good to help my friend, and to know that she was catching up on some much needed rest while I worked around the house. When she was awake, we did lots of catching up and chatting – we’ve been friends fro 12 years but we live 3 hours apart now, so we don’t see each other as often as we’d like.
I spent about $35 in gas to get to and from my friend’s house, and I used two vacation days at the library. Very much worth it. Â

You are a wonderful friend. I have done similar for friends, but I don’t have a single friend that would do that for me!
